26.1 Overview

Custom domains allow you to use your own Domain or Subdomain as the URL that delivers AIUNIFY Analytics Tracking Code.

AIUNIFY describes the feature as:

“Here you can add your own custom domain to use with your pixel tracking codes.” 

Instead of using only the default AIUNIFY Analytics tracking URL, an approved Custom Domain can become the Tracking Code base URL for Websites assigned to it.

26.2 Custom Domain Availability

Custom Domains depend on:

1. Custom Domain functionality being enabled. 
2. Your account's Domain allowance. 

AIUNIFY enforces the account's Domain limit before another Domain can be connected. 

26.3 Opening Custom Domains

Open:

Domains

The page is labeled:

Custom domains

and provides:

Connect domain. 

If none exist, AIUNIFY displays:

There are no custom domains added

and:

Start by linking your first custom domain.

26.4 Connecting a Domain

To begin:

1. Open Domains. 
2. Click Connect domain. 
3. The Connect custom domain page opens. 
4. Configure the DNS record shown by AIUNIFY. 
5. Enter the Domain or Subdomain. 
6. Optionally configure redirect URLs. 
7. Click Create. 

26.5 DNS Requirement

At the top of the Connect Domain page, AIUNIFY displays the required DNS destination.

The instructions state that the Domain/Subdomain must have either:

1. An A record pointing to the IP displayed by AIUNIFY, 

or:

1. A CNAME record pointing to the hostname displayed by AIUNIFY. 

Use the exact values displayed in your account rather than copying example DNS values from another environment.

26.6 Domain or Subdomain

The required field is:

Domain or subdomain 

Examples could include:

analytics.example.com

tracking.example.com

stats.example.com

Use a Domain/Subdomain you control and whose DNS you can manage.

26.7 No Separate Scheme Field in the Current Form

The current Connect custom domain user interface does not ask you to manually choose HTTP or HTTPS.

The visible creation form contains:

1. Domain or subdomain 
2. Custom index URL 
3. Custom 404 not found URL 

Follow the Website interface rather than attempting to configure additional fields that are not shown.

26.8 Custom Index URL

Optional field:

Custom index URL

AIUNIFY explains:

“Redirect to a specific URL when visitors land on the index of the domain.” 

For example, if someone directly visits your tracking Domain rather than loading a tracking script, you can specify where its root should redirect.

26.9 Custom 404 Not Found URL

Optional field:

Custom 404 not found URL

AIUNIFY explains:

“Redirect to a specific URL when visitors land on a not found page of the domain.” 

This lets you define how invalid locations on the Custom Domain are handled.

26.10 Submitting the Domain

After completing the form, click:

Create

AIUNIFY confirms:

“Your custom domain has been submitted for approval and processing.” 

26.11 Pending Status

A newly submitted or changed Domain can display:

Pending

The Custom Domains table uses:

1. Pending 
2. Active 

as its primary status labels. 

Pending means the Domain should not yet be treated as ready for production tracking.

26.12 Active Status

Once the Domain is ready for normal use, the table displays:

Active. 

Use Active Domains when assigning a Custom Domain to Website Tracking Code.

26.13 Assigning a Custom Domain to a Website

Once available:

1. Open Websites. 
2. Create or Edit the Website. 
3. Locate Custom domain. 
4. Select the appropriate Domain. 
5. Update the Website. 
6. Reopen Tracking Code. 
7. Copy the current tracking snippet. 

AIUNIFY describes the Website setting as:

“Use a custom domain for your tracking code URL.” 

26.14 Why Reopen the Tracking Code

When a Custom Domain is selected for a Website, it changes the URL used for that Website's Tracking Code.

Therefore, after assigning or changing the Custom Domain, use the Website's current:

Tracking Code → Install pixel

snippet rather than assuming an older installed snippet has automatically rewritten itself.

26.15 Custom Domain Does Not Change the Website Being Tracked

A Custom Domain is the delivery Domain for the Tracking Code.

It does not change the Website property itself.

For example:

Tracked Website:

www.example.com

Custom Tracking Domain:

analytics.example.com

The Website visitors still interact with:

www.example.com

while the Analytics script can be delivered using the Custom Domain.

26.16 Managing Domains

The Custom Domains table displays:

1. Domain 
2. Status 
3. Associated Website link 
4. Created information 
5. Last Updated information 
6. Actions 

26.17 Viewing Websites Using a Domain

Each Domain row contains a Website shortcut that opens Websites filtered by that Domain. 

This is especially important before:

1. Editing the Domain 
2. Replacing it 
3. Deleting it 

26.18 Editing a Domain

Open:

Domains → Domain Name

or:

Actions → Edit

The Edit custom domain page contains:

1. Domain or subdomain 
2. Custom index URL 
3. Custom 404 not found URL 

26.19 Changing the Host Returns the Domain to Pending

If you change the actual Domain/Subdomain value, AIUNIFY changes its status back to an unapproved/pending state. 

The updated Domain is then submitted again for approval and processing.

26.20 Changing Only Redirect URLs

If you edit the Custom Index URL or Custom 404 URL without changing the Domain host, the source preserves the existing Domain status.

The Pending reset is specifically triggered when the host changes. 

26.21 Duplicate Domains

AIUNIFY prevents an already active Custom Domain from being connected again.

The interface can display:

“This custom domain already exists.” 

26.22 Domain Limits

If the account has reached its Domain limit:

Connect domain

becomes unavailable. 

Review existing Domains or account availability before attempting to connect another.

26.23 Searching and Filtering Domains

The Domain management filters include:

1. Search by Domain 
2. Status 
3. Created Date 
4. Last Updated Date 
5. Order By 
6. Ascending/Descending 
7. Results Per Page 

26.24 Exporting Domains

The Domains page supports:

1. CSV 
2. JSON 
3. PDF 

depending on account export availability. 

As explained in Chapter 23, this is a paginated management-list export.

26.25 Deleting a Domain

To delete:

1. Open Domains. 
2. Locate the Domain. 
3. Open its action menu. 
4. Select Delete. 
5. Confirm. 

AIUNIFY warns:

“By deleting the domain, all the websites pixels codes associated with the domain will stop working. This action cannot be undone.” 

26.26 Before Deleting a Domain

Before deletion:

1. Use the Websites shortcut to identify Websites using it. 
2. Edit those Websites. 
3. Change their Custom Domain where appropriate. 
4. Reopen Tracking Code. 
5. Update any installed snippets that rely on the Domain. 
6. Verify tracking. 
7. Only then delete the old Domain. 

This helps prevent accidental tracking interruptions.

26.27 Troubleshooting — Domain Remains Pending

Check:

1. DNS record is correct. 
2. You used the exact A-record IP or CNAME target displayed by AIUNIFY. 
3. DNS changes have had time to propagate. 
4. The Domain/Subdomain entered in AIUNIFY matches DNS. 
5. You did not recently change the Host, which returns it to Pending. 

26.28 Troubleshooting — Tracking Stops After Domain Deletion

This is expected if Websites still use Tracking Code based on the deleted Domain.

AIUNIFY explicitly warns that associated Website pixel codes stop working after Domain deletion. 

Update the affected Website's Tracking Code.
