23.1 Starting a New Smart Short Link

Select Short Links in the Sidebar, then choose New short link. The creation drawer uses three steps: Destination, Options, and UTM tracking.

23.2 Step 1 — Destination

Enter the Destination URL. It must be a valid URL and can contain up to 2,048 characters.

Optionally enter a Custom alias. The alias can use alpha-dash characters and can contain up to 120 characters. If you leave it blank on creation, PROS generates a unique alias.

23.3 Tags

Enter optional Tags as a comma-separated list, such as campaign, summer, paid. The server splits the string at commas, trims whitespace, removes empty values, and stores the result as individual tags.

23.4 Step 2 — Options

  1. Password protection — optional password of at least 8 characters.
  2. Scheduled activation — future Starts at date/time.
  3. Scheduled deactivation — Expires at date/time after the start.
  4. Mark as favorite — adds a favorite/star state to the link.
  5. Generate matching QR — creates a QR Code that opens the Short Link.

23.5 Step 3 — UTM Tracking

The third step provides five UTM fields used for campaign tracking:

  1. utm_source
  2. utm_medium
  3. utm_campaign
  4. utm_term
  5. utm_content

The drawer includes a Preview URL example to illustrate how these parameters can be appended to the destination.

23.6 Create the Link

  1. Confirm the Destination URL.
  2. Confirm or leave blank the Custom alias.
  3. Add Tags if useful.
  4. Continue to Options and configure protection/scheduling/favorite/QR settings.
  5. Continue to UTM tracking and enter any campaign parameters.
  6. Select Create short link.
  7. After success, PROS returns to the listing with Short link created.

23.7 Creation Limits

Short Link creation is protected by the workspace short-link subscription limit. If the current usage has reached the plan limit, the request can be blocked until capacity is increased.

23.8 Test the New Link

  1. Open the public short URL in a private browser.
  2. Confirm the correct destination.
  3. Verify UTM parameters on the destination when configured.
  4. Test the password screen if used.
  5. Check that the link is available only during the intended schedule.
  6. Confirm click activity appears in the listing/Analytics.
