22.1 Managing Existing Builder Sections

After sections have been added to a Website Page, Website Builder lets authorized users select, edit, reorder, and delete those sections.

These operations remain specific to the current Website, Website Page, and Website Language except where shared Header/Footer synchronization is enabled.

22.2 Selecting a Section to Edit

The Builder's section list displays the sections assigned to the current page and language.

Select a section from the list to load it into the Section Editor.

If no section is selected, the interface displays its Select Section empty state rather than presenting unrelated content.

22.3 Basic Info

The confirmed Section Editor contains a Basic Info tab.

Depending on the selected section and its content schema, editable data can include:

Setting	Purpose
Section Layout	Chooses the supported visual layout.
Title	Stores the section title when supported.
Subtitle	Stores secondary section wording when supported.
Content	Stores the section's schema-based content.
White Background	Stores the supported white-background state.
Padding Top	Controls supported custom spacing above the section.
Padding Bottom	Controls supported custom spacing below the section.

22.4 Content Schema

Each supported Theme Section can provide a Content Schema.

The Content Schema defines the fields and structures that the Section Editor can use for that section type.

Because different section types can use different schemas, the exact content controls can change when you select another section.

22.5 Header and Footer Are Special Layout Sections

The Section Editor specifically identifies header and footer as layout sections.

These sections do not require the ordinary Title and Subtitle fields used by other supported content sections.

22.6 Updating a Section

The Update action is available when the signed-in user has:

1. website_builder_edit, or
2. administrative access.

To update a section:

1. Select the correct Website.
2. Select the correct Page.
3. Select the correct Language.
4. Select the section in the section list.
5. Change its supported Layout, content, or presentation values.
6. Select Update.
7. Preview the page.

22.7 Why Language Selection Matters

The Builder update logic identifies the intended record using the Website Language, Website, Website Page, and Section Key.

This helps prevent an edit intended for one translated page from being treated as the same content for another language.

22.8 Reordering Sections

The Builder section list includes drag handles and uses drag-and-drop ordering.

To reorder sections:

1. Review the current section sequence.
2. Use a section's drag handle.
3. Move the section to its intended position.
4. Release it in the new position.
5. Allow Website Builder to submit the updated sort order.
6. Review the public page sequence.

22.9 Sort Order

Each Website Builder section has a Sort Order.

The Builder includes a dedicated update-sort-order operation so the stored section order can follow the sequence created through the drag interface.

22.10 Deleting a Section

The section list displays a delete control when the user has:

1. website_builder_delete, or
2. administrative access.

Before deleting a section, verify the Website, Page, Language, and whether the section is a shared Header or Footer.

22.11 Shared Header and Footer Effects

Header and Footer sections can be synchronized across other Website Pages when the corresponding Website-level shared setting is enabled.

The confirmed synchronization supports Header/Footer:

1. Creation.
2. Updates.
3. Deletion.

Supported synchronized values include layout, Title, Subtitle, content, white-background state, and top/bottom padding.

Important: Editing or deleting a shared Header or Footer can affect multiple pages. Check the Website's shared Header/Footer settings first.

22.12 Reordering Versus Editing

Moving a section changes its order on the page. Editing a section changes its content or supported presentation values.

Use the drag handle for sequence changes and the Section Editor for content or layout changes.

22.13 Recommended Editing Procedure

1. Confirm Website, Page, and Language.
2. Select the section.
3. Review the current Layout and content.
4. Make the required changes.
5. Select Update.
6. Drag sections into the desired sequence if needed.
7. Confirm Header/Footer synchronization behavior.
8. Preview the page on the public website.
9. Repeat the review for other required languages.
