25.1 Mailchimp Integration Overview

AIUNIFY Funnels can connect Landing Page form submissions to Mailchimp.

The Mailchimp integration is configured at the Landing Page Settings level and is separate from the browser's form next action and the built-in Autoresponder.

25.2 Email Field Requirement

The Mailchimp Settings interface displays this warning:

The form will subscribe a new contact or lead to the chosen mailing system. Make sure there is an email field in the form!

The qualifying integration logic checks that the submitted form contains an email field with a valid email address.

Without a valid captured email value, the mailing-integration rule does not qualify the submission for contact addition.

25.3 Mailchimp Configuration Fields

The confirmed Mailchimp configuration includes:

API Key Mailchimp API credential used by the integration.
Contact subscription status Controls the subscription status requested for the new contact.
Mailing list The selected Mailchimp list that should receive qualifying submitted contacts.
Merge fields The stored mapping used to align Landing Page form values with the available Mailchimp list fields.

25.4 API Key Is Required

When Mailchimp is selected as the Landing Page integration, API Key is required before the Landing Page Settings can be saved successfully.

The interface uses the placeholder:

Your Mailchimp API key

Use the credential intended for the Mailchimp account and mailing workflow being connected.

25.5 Contact Subscription Status

The confirmed Mailchimp status choices are:

Active Saves the Mailchimp contact-subscription status value subscribed.
Awaiting user confirmation Saves the Mailchimp contact-subscription status value pending.

Select the status appropriate to the mailing workflow you are configuring.

25.6 Mailing List Is Required

When Mailchimp is the selected integration, Mailing list is required.

AIUNIFY Funnels includes a Mailchimp list-request workflow so the interface can retrieve available lists after the required connection information is supplied.

25.7 Integration Connection Operations

The Landing Page integration workflow includes authenticated operations for:

Test connection Tests the selected integration's connection information.
Lists Retrieves the available mailing lists for the selected integration.
Merge fields Retrieves fields belonging to the selected mailing list so form data can be mapped.

25.8 Connection Feedback

Confirmed application messages include:

Connected success

for a successful connection workflow, and:

Please Enter a valid API key

when the supplied Mailchimp API credential is not accepted by the connection workflow.

25.9 Valid Fields from Your List

After a mailing list is selected, the Mailchimp interface provides information under:

Valid fields from your list

These fields are used to help align the Landing Page's submitted form data with the fields expected by the selected Mailchimp list.

25.10 Form Field Mapping

The Mailchimp interface provides the guidance:

Change name your form fields with fields in your chosen integration, so that the data is saved correctly

In practical terms, the field identifiers used by the Landing Page form should correspond appropriately to the selected Mailchimp merge-field mapping.

Do not assume that visually similar labels will automatically map correctly when the underlying field names differ.

25.11 Mailchimp Field-Type Guidance

The interface also states:

We suggest using Text type fields in MailChimp lists

Review the selected Mailchimp list fields when planning the data that the Landing Page will submit.

25.12 What AIUNIFY Funnels Stores

When Mailchimp is selected and the Landing Page Settings are saved, the Landing Page integration settings can store:

  1. The integration type as Mailchimp.
  2. API Key.
  3. Contact subscription status.
  4. Mailing list.
  5. Merge-field mapping.

25.13 What Happens After a Qualifying Form Submission

When a Landing Page is configured with Mailchimp and a submitted Lead contains a valid email field, AIUNIFY Funnels can queue its mailing-integration job for the captured submission.

For Mailchimp, the job uses the saved Mailchimp settings and the submitted field values to add the contact through the configured Mailchimp integration.

25.14 Automatic Tags Used by the Integration

The confirmed Mailchimp integration prepares tags using:

  1. The application name.
  2. The Landing Page Name.

This provides campaign context to the Mailchimp contact-add operation supported by the integration.

25.15 Mailchimp Integration Is a Queued Workflow

The mailing integration is implemented as a queued job.

A browser redirect after form submission and successful Mailchimp contact addition are therefore separate parts of the overall conversion workflow.

If the visitor reaches the Thank You Page but the contact does not appear in Mailchimp, review the integration configuration independently.

25.16 Mailchimp and the Built-In Autoresponder

The built-in Autoresponder and Mailchimp serve different purposes.

Autoresponder Sends the configured Landing Page email directly to the captured email address.
Mailchimp integration Adds the qualifying captured contact to the selected external mailing list using the saved Mailchimp integration settings.

Both can participate in the same Landing Page workflow when each is properly configured.

25.17 Recommended Mailchimp Setup Sequence

  1. Confirm the Landing Page form contains a valid email field.
  2. Open the Landing Page's Settings.
  3. Select Mailchimp as the mailing integration.
  4. Enter the Mailchimp API Key.
  5. Test the connection.
  6. Select the required Contact subscription status.
  7. Select the required Mailing list.
  8. Review the valid fields from the list.
  9. Map or align the Landing Page form fields with the intended Mailchimp fields.
  10. Save Landing Page Settings.
  11. Submit the public Landing Page form using recognizable test information.
  12. Confirm the Lead appears in AIUNIFY Funnels.
  13. Confirm the contact appears in the intended Mailchimp list with the expected mapped information.

25.18 When the Test Does Not Work

If a test submission is captured in AIUNIFY Funnels but is not added to Mailchimp, review:

  1. Whether Mailchimp remains the selected integration.
  2. Whether the API Key passes the connection test.
  3. Whether the intended Mailing list is selected.
  4. Whether the form contains a valid field named email.
  5. Whether the form field names correspond to the required merge fields.
  6. Whether the application's queued integration processing is operating normally.

Operating principle: A reliable Mailchimp workflow requires a valid connection, a selected list, properly aligned fields, and a valid email submission. Test the complete public form workflow before relying on it for live campaigns.
