Heatmaps allow AIUNIFY Analytics to combine the behavior of multiple visitors on the same Website page into a visual representation of how that page is being used.

AIUNIFY Analytics supports:

  1. Click Heatmaps
  2. Scroll Heatmaps
  3. Desktop Heatmaps
  4. Tablet Heatmaps
  5. Mobile Heatmaps
  6. Full-page Website snapshots

The system describes Heatmaps as a way to:

“Track the flow of multiple people on the same page.”

The basic Heatmap workflow is:

Create Heatmap → Define Page Path → Wait for Snapshot → Collect Visitor Activity → Review Clicks/Scrolls → Manage or Retake Snapshot

16.2 Heatmaps Require Advanced Tracking

Heatmaps are an Advanced Tracking feature.

AIUNIFY Analytics prevents the Heatmaps area from being used when the selected Website uses Lightweight Tracking.

Therefore:

Advanced Tracking

Can support:

  1. Heatmaps
  2. Visitor Events
  3. Session Replays
  4. Visitor Journeys

Lightweight Tracking

Does not provide Heatmaps.

If Heatmaps does not appear for a Website, first confirm its Tracking Type.

16.3 Heatmap Availability

Heatmaps also depend on:

  1. Heatmap functionality being enabled for AIUNIFY Analytics
  2. Your account having Heatmap availability
  3. The Website not exceeding its Heatmap limit

The Create heatmap button becomes disabled when the Website has reached the Heatmap limit available to the account.

Availability: Heatmaps require Advanced Tracking and may depend on the features and limits enabled for your AIUNIFY Analytics account.

16.4 Opening Heatmaps

To open Heatmaps:

  1. Sign in to AIUNIFY Analytics.
  2. Select an Advanced Tracking Website.
  3. Click Heatmaps from the navigation.
  4. The Heatmaps screen opens.

If no Heatmaps have been created, the system displays:

There are no created heatmaps.

and instructs you to use the button in the upper-right area to add one.

16.5 The Heatmaps Screen

The Heatmaps management screen provides controls for:

The Heatmaps list displays each Heatmap as a separate record.

16.6 Creating a Heatmap

To create a Heatmap:

  1. Open Heatmaps.
  2. Click Create heatmap.
  3. The Create a new heatmap window opens.
  4. Enter a Name.
  5. Enter the Heatmap Path.
  6. Click Create.

The creation form contains only the user-configurable:

  1. Name
  2. Heatmap path

fields.

16.7 Create a New Heatmap

The creation window is labeled:

Create a new heatmap

and explains:

Track the flow of multiple people on the same page.

The purpose is therefore to create a behavioral analysis specifically for one Website page/path.

16.8 Step 1 — Enter the Heatmap Name

Enter a descriptive Name.

Examples:

  1. Homepage Heatmap
  2. Pricing Page
  3. Enterprise Landing Page
  4. Request Quote Page
  5. Product Page
  6. Lead Generation Landing Page
  7. Appointment Page

The Name is required.

AIUNIFY Analytics will not create the Heatmap if the Name is empty.

16.9 Recommended Heatmap Naming

Use names that tell your team exactly which page is being analyzed.

For example:

Enterprise Pricing Heatmap

rather than:

Heatmap 1

Clear naming becomes especially important when multiple Heatmaps are active.

16.10 Step 2 — Enter the Heatmap Path

The next field is:

Heatmap path

The interface explains:

“Specify the exact path of your website which you want to create this heatmap for.”

The Website address is displayed automatically in front of the field.

16.11 Heatmap Path Example

Suppose your Website is:

example.com

and you want a Heatmap for:

example.com/pricing

Enter:

pricing

as the Heatmap Path.

AIUNIFY Analytics stores that as the applicable Website path.

16.12 Homepage Heatmap

If the Heatmap Path is left empty during creation, AIUNIFY Analytics stores the path as:

/

which represents the Website's root page.

Therefore, a Heatmap created without a deeper path can be used for the Website's homepage/root path.

16.13 Use the Exact Page Path

Heatmaps are page-specific.

If your intended page is:

example.com/products/software

your Heatmap should use the corresponding page path.

Do not configure:

/products

if you actually intend to analyze only:

/products/software

unless /products itself is the target page.

16.14 Step 3 — Click Create

After entering:

  1. Name
  2. Heatmap Path

click:

Create

The new Heatmap is created with data collection enabled by default.

You are then returned to the Heatmaps list.

16.15 New Heatmaps Start Collecting Data

When a Heatmap is created, its initial status is enabled.

The Heatmaps interface represents an enabled Heatmap as:

Collecting data

This means the Heatmap is prepared to collect supported activity once its required page snapshot exists.

16.16 A Heatmap Requires a Snapshot

AIUNIFY Analytics uses a snapshot of the actual Website page as the visual foundation for the Heatmap.

The behavioral data is then placed over that page representation.

Each Heatmap can maintain separate snapshots for:

  1. Desktop
  2. Tablet
  3. Mobile


16.17 Why Separate Device Snapshots Matter

The same Website can appear differently on:

Desktop

versus:

Tablet

versus:

Mobile

For example:

Desktop navigation may appear horizontally.

Mobile navigation may use a menu button.

A Desktop call-to-action may appear beside content while Mobile places it below the content.

Separate snapshots allow behavioral data to be interpreted against the layout visitors actually experienced.

16.18 Snapshot Status Indicators

On the Heatmaps list, AIUNIFY Analytics displays icons for:

  1. Desktop
  2. Tablet
  3. Mobile

Each icon indicates whether a snapshot has been taken.

The exact status labels include:

  1. Desktop snapshot taken
  2. Desktop snapshot not taken
  3. Tablet snapshot taken
  4. Tablet snapshot not taken
  5. Mobile snapshot taken
  6. Mobile snapshot not taken


16.19 Waiting for the First Snapshot

If a snapshot has not yet been created, the Heatmap page displays:

We are still waiting for data

and explains:

“The first visitor to open the heatmap page will create the initial snapshot.”

This is normal for a newly created Heatmap.

You do not manually upload a screenshot of the Website.

16.20 Generating the Initial Snapshot

After creating a Heatmap:

  1. Confirm the Heatmap is Collecting data.
  2. Confirm the Tracking Code is installed on the Website.
  3. Open the exact Heatmap page.
  4. Allow Analytics to receive activity.
  5. Return to Heatmaps.
  6. Review the appropriate device Snapshot indicator.

Because snapshots are device-specific, Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile may become available at different times.

16.21 Example Snapshot Workflow

Suppose you create:

Pricing Page Heatmap

A Desktop visitor opens /pricing.

The Desktop snapshot may then become available.

The list could show:

Desktop → Snapshot taken

while:

Tablet → Snapshot not taken

Mobile → Snapshot not taken

This is expected.

Each device snapshot is tracked independently.

16.22 Opening a Heatmap

To view a Heatmap:

  1. Open Heatmaps.
  2. Click the Heatmap Name,

  1. Open the Heatmap action menu.
  2. Select View.

The action menu provides:

16.23 Selecting a Device Heatmap

The first behavioral visualization is:

A Click Heatmap displays the aggregated click activity collected for the selected page, device type, and Date Range.

The interface displays the number of:

16.25 Scroll Heatmap

The second visualization is:

Scrolls

A Scroll Heatmap helps show how far visitors progressed down the page.

The system can display how many Pageviews reached a particular scroll level and what percentage of the relevant activity reached that point.

16.26 Switching Between Clicks and Scrolls

Inside a Heatmap, use the:

controls to switch visualization types.

The selected Device Type remains part of the Heatmap URL and analysis.

16.28 Date Range

The Heatmap view includes the standard Analytics Date Range control.

The minimum date begins with the Heatmap's creation date, and the report can be changed to analyze different time periods.

The Click and Scroll data retrieved for the Heatmap is restricted to the selected Date Range.

16.29 Why Heatmap Date Ranges Matter

Suppose you redesign a page on July 1.

You may want to compare:

June behavior

with:

July behavior

or analyze only visitor behavior after the redesign.

Date filtering lets you focus the Heatmap data on the desired period.

16.30 Full-Page Heatmap Presentation

AIUNIFY Analytics reconstructs the Website snapshot and sizes the Heatmap to the captured page's full content height.

Click and Scroll data are then drawn over that page representation.

This makes Heatmaps useful for longer pages where important content may be located well below the initial screen.

16.31 Heatmap Status

Each Heatmap has one of two operational states:

Collecting data

The Heatmap is enabled.

Paused

The Heatmap exists but is not collecting supported new Heatmap activity.

These exact labels appear in the Heatmaps interface.

16.32 Pausing a Heatmap

To pause a Heatmap:

  1. Open Heatmaps.
  2. Open the Heatmap's action menu.
  3. Select Update.
  4. The Edit heatmap window opens.
  5. Disable Heatmap status.
  6. Click Update.

The system describes this control as:

“Enable or disable collecting data on this heatmap.”

16.33 What Pausing Does

Pausing stops the Heatmap from accepting supported new Heatmap Click/Scroll data.

The collection process checks whether the Heatmap is enabled before storing new Heatmap behavior.

The Heatmap record itself remains available.

Therefore:

Paused ≠ Deleted

16.34 When to Pause a Heatmap

Pausing may be useful when:

  1. A campaign ends
  2. A landing page is temporarily inactive
  3. You want to preserve current Heatmap data
  4. A page is being redesigned
  5. You no longer need new behavior collected
  6. You plan to resume analysis later

16.35 Editing a Heatmap

Open:

Heatmaps → Actions → Update

The window is titled:

Edit heatmap

The edit controls include:

  1. Name
  2. Heatmap status


16.36 The Heatmap Path Cannot Be Edited from Edit Heatmap

Notice that the Edit Heatmap window does not provide a Heatmap Path field.

It only provides:

  1. Name
  2. Heatmap status

The source confirms the update process modifies the Name and enabled/disabled state, not the stored Path.

Therefore:

If you need a Heatmap for a different Website path, create a new Heatmap for that path rather than expecting to change the existing Heatmap's page.

16.37 Why the Path Should Remain Stable

A Heatmap combines behavior against a specific page snapshot.

Changing that page association after data has already accumulated could make historical behavior difficult to interpret.

The system therefore treats the Heatmap Path as part of the Heatmap's original configuration.

16.38 Retake Snapshots

The Heatmap actions menu provides:

Retake snapshots

This opens a dedicated window for clearing selected device snapshots so that AIUNIFY Analytics can generate them again.

The system describes the action as:

“Clear the current snapshot of the heatmap page and allow it to regenerate.”

16.39 When to Retake a Snapshot

Retaking a snapshot is particularly useful after a substantial Website design change.

Examples include:

  1. Page layout redesigned
  2. Navigation moved
  3. CTA moved
  4. New content sections added
  5. Old sections removed
  6. Pricing table redesigned
  7. Form structure changed
  8. Mobile layout changed

The old Heatmap background may no longer accurately represent the page visitors now see.

16.40 Selecting Which Snapshots to Retake

The Retake snapshots window allows you to independently select:

  1. Desktop snapshot
  2. Tablet snapshot
  3. Mobile snapshot

All three controls are initially selected in the interface.

You can choose only the devices that need a new snapshot.

16.41 Example — Mobile-Only Redesign

Suppose the Desktop page remains unchanged, but your development team completely redesigns Mobile.

You could:

  1. Open Retake snapshots.
  2. Disable Desktop.
  3. Disable Tablet.
  4. Leave Mobile snapshot selected.
  5. Click Submit.

Only the selected Mobile snapshot is cleared for regeneration.

16.42 What Retake Snapshots Does

For each selected device, AIUNIFY Analytics removes the existing stored snapshot and clears its cached Heatmap representation.

The system then reports:

The selected snapshots have been cleared!

The next applicable visitor activity allows the snapshot to regenerate.

16.43 Retake Snapshot Does Not Mean Delete Heatmap

These actions are different.

Retake Snapshot

Keeps:

  1. Heatmap
  2. Name
  3. Path
  4. Status

but clears selected page snapshots so they can regenerate.

Delete Heatmap

Removes the Heatmap record itself.

Use Retake snapshots after page-layout changes rather than deleting the Heatmap unnecessarily.

16.44 Snapshot Storage Information

The Heatmaps list includes a storage-size indicator.

It provides snapshot size information separately for:

  1. Desktop
  2. Tablet
  3. Mobile


This is primarily informational and helps show the storage footprint of each captured device snapshot.

16.45 Created and Last Updated Information

Each Heatmap also includes indicators for:

  1. Creation date
  2. Last updated date


These can help determine:

  1. How long the Heatmap has existed
  2. Whether it was recently modified
  3. Whether a configuration change occurred

16.46 Searching Heatmaps

The Heatmaps Filters allow you to search by:

  1. Name
  2. Heatmap path


This becomes useful when managing many page-specific Heatmaps.

16.47 Filtering by Status

You can filter Heatmaps according to status:

  1. All
  2. Active
  3. Disabled


In Heatmap terminology, active records correspond to those currently:

Heatmap management filters can also use:

You can also select the number of results shown per page.

16.50 Exporting the Heatmap List

The Heatmaps management screen supports export formats including:

  1. CSV
  2. JSON
  3. PDF

depending on account availability.

The CSV and JSON exports can include information such as:

  1. Heatmap ID
  2. Website
  3. Device Snapshot IDs
  4. Name
  5. Path
  6. Status
  7. Creation Date
  8. Last Updated Date


This export concerns your Heatmap records/configuration list, not a rendered Heatmap image.

16.51 Heatmap Limits

Your account may limit how many Heatmaps can be created for a Website.

When the limit is reached:

Create heatmap

becomes disabled.

If you need another Heatmap:

  1. Review existing Heatmaps.
  2. Determine whether old Heatmaps are still required.
  3. Delete obsolete Heatmaps if appropriate.
  4. Review account availability.

16.52 Deleting a Heatmap

To delete a Heatmap:

  1. Open Heatmaps.
  2. Locate the Heatmap.
  3. Open its action menu.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.

The actions menu includes the Delete control along with View, Update, and Retake Snapshots.

Once the Heatmap record is deleted, do not expect it to remain available for further Heatmap analysis.

16.53 Pause vs. Retake vs. Delete

These actions solve different problems.

16.54 Team Access Restrictions

Team access can review Heatmap information, but owner-level management is restricted.

The interface hides owner-management controls from Team context, and the Heatmap creation/update/retake processes also reject Team management requests.

This protects Heatmap configuration and destructive management actions.

16.55 Heatmaps and Visitor Events

Heatmaps depend on supported behavioral activity collected by Advanced Tracking.

Click Heatmap data records normalized click positions.

Scroll Heatmap data records the maximum scroll level reached.

This allows behavior from multiple visits to be combined against the page snapshot.

16.56 Click Data

For Click Heatmaps, AIUNIFY Analytics collects click positions using normalized:

  1. Horizontal position
  2. Vertical position
  3. Count

and combines those points for the selected Heatmap snapshot.

The resulting visualization shows areas receiving concentrated click activity.

16.57 Scroll Data

For Scroll Heatmaps, AIUNIFY Analytics records the visitor's maximum scroll level from:

0% through 100%

and aggregates that information.

This allows the Heatmap to show how much of the page visitors reached.

16.58 Why Heatmaps Are Different from Session Replays

Heatmaps and Replays provide different perspectives.

Heatmap

Combines behavior from multiple people on the same page.

Session Replay

Shows an individual recorded Session.

Therefore:

Heatmap = Aggregate behavior

Replay = Individual behavior

Both can be useful when diagnosing Website experience.

16.59 Why Heatmaps Are Different from Pageviews

Pageviews tells you:

How many times was the page visited?

Heatmaps help answer:

What did visitors do on the page?

For example:

A page may receive:

5,000 Pageviews

but the Heatmap may reveal that visitors rarely reach the call-to-action near the bottom.

That distinction makes Heatmaps useful for Website optimization.

Before creating a Heatmap, ask:

  3. Is Mobile behavior different from Desktop?
  4. Are people clicking non-clickable elements?

  1. Select an Advanced Tracking Website.
  2. Confirm Analytics Tracking is operating.
  3. Identify an important Website page.
  4. Open Heatmaps.

  9. Confirm status shows Collecting data.

16.63 Recommended Workflow After a Page Redesign

When the visual page structure changes substantially:

  1. Open Heatmaps.
  2. Locate the affected Heatmap.
  3. Open its action menu.
  4. Select Retake snapshots.
  5. Select the affected devices.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Visit the page again.
  8. Allow a new Snapshot to generate.
  9. Confirm its Snapshot status.
  10. Begin collecting new behavior against the updated layout.

This keeps the visual page representation aligned with the current Website design.

16.64 Troubleshooting — Heatmaps Is Missing

Check:

The Website must use:

Advanced Tracking

Feature Availability

Heatmaps must be enabled for AIUNIFY Analytics.

Website Selection

Confirm the correct Website is selected.

Lightweight Websites are redirected away from Heatmap functionality.

16.65 Troubleshooting — Create Heatmap Is Disabled

The Website may have reached its account Heatmap limit.

The interface disables Create heatmap when the number of Heatmaps reaches the applicable limit.

Review your existing Heatmaps and account availability.

16.66 Troubleshooting — “We Are Still Waiting for Data”

This message means the selected Device Type does not yet have a usable snapshot.

The system specifically states:

The first visitor to open the heatmap page will create the initial snapshot.

Check:

  1. Correct Heatmap Path
  2. Tracking enabled
  3. Heatmap Collecting data
  4. Tracking Code installed
  5. Target page visited
  6. Correct Device Type selected

16.67 Troubleshooting — Desktop Works but Mobile Does Not

Snapshots are stored separately.

A Desktop Snapshot can exist while Mobile still displays:

This is normal.

Generate applicable activity from the missing Device Type and recheck the Heatmap.

16.68 Troubleshooting — Heatmap Stopped Collecting

Check the status.

If the Heatmap displays:

Update → Heatmap status

and enable it again.

The backend rejects new Heatmap Click/Scroll collection when the Heatmap is disabled.

16.69 Troubleshooting — Heatmap No Longer Matches the Page

If the Website page has been redesigned but the Heatmap still shows the old layout:

  1. Open the Heatmap's actions.
  2. Select Retake snapshots.
  3. Select the affected Device Types.
  4. Submit.
  5. Allow the snapshots to regenerate.

Retaking snapshots is specifically designed to clear the current page representation and generate a new one.
